Our Story

pieter lobke horizontaal e1683233889367

Let us tell you about us: ViaVia Entebbe was founded at the end of 2016 by Pieter, Lobke and Steven, finding the right Belgian and Ugandan ingredients to shake the cocktail until it bustles, inspires and invites.

ViaVia is a meeting place in Entebbe for locals, expats and travelers. The aim is to be an open space for innovation, for social and sustainable entrepreneurship, a place for musicians to jam, a space for poets to perform, for children to play, birds to fly and monkeys to eat fruits, a place where you can forge plans, where people can create, dream and try out … ViaVia Entebbe is embedded in the local environment and reinforces the community. We have a focus on sustainable tourism to create adventure, a positive impact on the community, environment and economy, stimulating cultural exchange and responsible traveling.

We would like to share the beauty of Uganda with you. We will operate as passionate guides to let you discover the most interesting places in the surroundings of Entebbe and Uganda.

CosmoGolem

The CosmoGolem is a wooden giant created by Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen. The project focuses on the empowerment of children and their rights, with a special focus on creativity and hope, personal expression and self-confidence. Using a 4 meter tall wooden Giant of Hope, Koen Vanmechelen encourages children to express themselves through poetry, dance, stories and visual art.

In particular, the giant is a symbolic helper and saviour for all children in the world. Although he is always silent, it allows children to speak. Thus, the Giant of Hope helps them find their identity and voice by allowing them to deposit their dreams, hopes and desires through a hatch in the construction. This is not the only cooporation with Koen Vanmechelen, learn more about the other projects here on our website and on Labiomista’s website.

So far, over 45 CosmoGolems have been built around the globe, from India to Poland, from Nicaragua to Tanzania …. In cooperation with ViaVia the CosmoGolem family has expanded to Entebbe! Find out more about CosmoGolem worldwide on the website.

Workshops, like dance, painting, and poetry, are organized near the Golem to encourage children to express their thoughts and emotions. These workshops provide an opportunity to gain knowledge on important topics in an engaging and playful manner. The silent giant empowers children by helping them find their own voice and identity.

The CosmoGolem is constructed with the help of children, under the artist’s supervision. Where the giant stands, children gather to communicate, philosophize, create, and share in various forms. For the materials, we prioritized eco-friendly and locally sourced products, which is why the CosmoGolem in Entebbe is crafted from bamboo.

CosmoGolem

By supporting the CosmoGolem, ViaVia Entebbe contributes to its mission of connecting communities worldwide and encourages local children to dream and create.

Would you also like to help the children to keep on dreaming? Please contact us. More info about sponsorship can be found here.

We have an airport shuttle service where we charge 10 USD per every 3 people. Our driver will be waiting for you with a red ViaVia sign just outside the airport building. All you have to do is kindly share with us your expected arrival time and flight details so that we arrange the airport transfer for you.

A late check-out is a prolonged stay in the room beyond the usual 11 am check-out time until 6 pm at a cost of 30 USD. A dayroom is when you come to ViaVia without wishing to spend a night, but just to fresh up and relax until 6 pm. This comes at a cost of 45 USD.

If you see no rooms available, it means that the hotel is fully booked, but sometimes we also have non confirmed rooms. In this case, we recommend contacting us directly.

If you want to make a group booking, we recommend to contact our Hotel Manager instead of going to our booking system. She will be happy to help you!

We provide our guests with a designated parking space, absolutely free of charge, which includes the presence of a dedicated 24/7 security guard. Please note that it is not permitted for guests to leave their cars at ViaVia longer than their stay. Instead, we advise to leave your car at the airport.

Certainly! Our bar and restaurant is open for everyone from all corners of the globe. Moreover, we extend our hospitality to clients who come accompanied by well-behaved, leashed dogs, allowing them to unwind and enjoy the ambience together in our establishment.

Just as our furry friends adhere to good behavior, we kindly ask our human guests to refrain from bringing outside food and drinks. That’s a fact! However, if you’re in doubt, we warmly invite you to personally try our cocktails by yourself. (We were slightly tipsy when we wrote this, but it still is a fact though.)

When traveling to Uganda, it is recommended to ensure that your routine vaccinations are up to date. Besides that, a yellow fever vaccination is required for entry into Uganda. You should obtain this vaccine at least ten days before your trip. It’s crucial to consult a healthcare professional or travel medicine specialist to assess your specific needs based on your health history and travel plans. They will provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding vaccinations for your trip to Uganda.

Please find the current prices here or contact us so we can fully understand your needs. We do have beautiful packages and are happy to work with you toward the best possible conference, meeting or workshop!

We got you covered for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well! For bigger groups (+ 20 pax) we usually arrange buffets, smaller groups can order à la carte.

Only a mile away from ViaVia, there is a big shopping mall, called Victoria Mall. There you can find forex bureaus for currency exchange, registration offices for local SIM cards, and a variety of shops offering a diverse range of items.

Of course it is! At ViaVia we have our reliable team of boda boda riders, feel free to ask at our reception. We consistently monitor and ensure the excellent condition of their motorcycles.
