Compost
By turning our organic waste into compost, we not only reduce waste and our reliance on landfills, but also avoid the harmful effects of burning these materials, which contribute to global warming and air pollution. In addition to these benefits, we harness the power of our compost as a natural source, providing us with hot water for the needs of our guests.
Pure nature
The two large ponds in the garden used to be fishing ponds. We have made them natural again, enhancing more biodiversity in and around the ponds. You can spot all kinds of birds, turtles, monkeys, and antelopes from time to time! The fish also play an important role in preventing malaria. We prefer this biocontrol approach above pesticides.
Organic and local soaps
The soap offered in each room is made organically and locally, which means they support the creator and are kind on the environment. What’s more, you won’t find any wasteful tiny soap bottles here; our packaging-free approach ensures a truly eco-friendly experience. Embrace the simplicity and goodness of our soap, as it brings a touch of nature’s joy.
Water use
The hot water flowing to the rooms is heated using a solar heater to maximise the energy the sun provides. It is only used to launder the sheets and towels when a new guest stays at the room or in between on the guests’ request.
Clean Up Day
Through a monthly Clean Up day, ViaVia Entebbe aims to draw attention to waste pollution in the local community and sensitize them on the use of proper waste management techniques. Furthermore, ViaVia Entebbe aims to create a cleaner, nicer and therefore healthier environment through this activity and reduce the effects of poor waste management practices on the environment.

Projects Koen Vanmechelen
2023 started with major festivities for ViaVia Entebbe, celebrating the cooperation with Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen (LABIOMISTA) to set up two ambitious art-community-science projects in Entebbe, Uganda: the CosmoGolem Project and the Planetary Community Chicken Project.
